About Me

I am a pointillism artist who lives in Alaska. My love of the wilderness and the out-of-doors brought me here from southern California in 1976. We lived in the wilderness of the Wrangell-St. Elias for twenty years. Now we live in Wasilla, Alaska, a place that is being thrust into the limelight by recent politics. My husband and I own and operate Niebrugge Studio, a publishing company that handles my prints, posters, cards, and licensing. I have a Master's Degree in Art Illustration from Syrac... more

Lovely work! You have captured the movement of the geese/swans lifting into the air which is fantastic!

I have always been impressed with your work, but have not seen an original since I lived in Alaska. Are you still painting as a pointillist? It would be nice to see a closeup view if you are.

Gail- Great to hear from you- I am new to this site. Your work really looks teriffic. It would be interesting to get a sense of the scale and the application. I have seen Kes, for instance, painting his huge canvases with a #1 brush, dab by dab. Amazing. Time consuming, beautiful. I guess things are heating up in Wasilla alright. What a life. Nice to see the photo of (Italy?). Way to rub it in! Dan

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!

I admire your patience and appreciate the explanation of how you build the picture gradually with shaded layers for the pointilliste effect. As in Seurat''s large works, yours have a measure of grandeur, especially in the Alaskan setting. I really like the way in which you used "pointillisme" to achieve the effect of movement in "Spirit of Flight". Thanks for sharing. - Allan

Hi Gail, thank you for the message and compliment. I think your work is stunning! I only started painting landscapes a while ago, as portraits are realy my forte and first love, so I have a long way to go in learning techniques, etc.

Some truly lovely work here, Gail. Are you setting at an outdoor cafe in Alaska?

beryl gay - 10/5/2008 12:10:00 PM

Hi Gail. Beautiful work. I have studied minutely the colour harmonies and methods of the French Impressionists and have experimented a little. Your beautiful works have inspired me to do some more work in that area. I especially liked how you were able to get the movement of the birds lifting off the water. Amazing regards Beryl
