About Me

Predominantly a self taught artist, Jeanne received her initial training at an early age through private instruction. She later attended the Ridgewood School of Art in New Jersey and Pratt Institute in New York. Inspired by the Dutch Masters Jeanne utilizes a warm, earthy palette and elaborate, fluid compositions punctuated by strong contrasts. She incorporates signs of age into her work as a reminder of nature’s delicacy and transience. Recently, however, Jeanne has been focusing on producing h... more

Patty Ray Avalon - 9/5/2008 11:03:00 PM

Your ''Eternal Spring'' is a mind blower. Geeze. Brings tears to my eyes.

jeanne illenye - 9/6/2008 5:28:00 PM

WOW! Thank you sooo much, Patty! This little image is only about 5 inches excerpted from a painting 30x24 inches. I''ll try to get a few more zoom ins for you. Sincerest thanks for your lovely compliments! Best, Jeanne

Susan Sjoberg - 9/10/2008 4:33:00 AM

I love your orange!

jeanne illenye - 9/10/2008 3:09:00 PM

Thank you so much, Susan! It just looked like an explosion of color so I entitled it "Orange Burst". Thank you for your kind comments. Jeanne

Thank you so much, Nita! Isn''t this BrushSpace amazing?!! I''m in awe of so much breathtaking talent here! It''s quite humbling....

Lisa Ober - 9/18/2008 9:35:00 AM

That baseball actually makes me wish I were athletic...and I am not. Your work is excellent.

jeanne illenye - 9/19/2008 12:08:00 AM

Thank you so much, Lisa! I''ve immensely enjoyed painting this subject, particularly this one entitled "Spring Training". While most of us are outdoors admiring the beautiful Spring flowers, dedicated fans are "keeping their eyes on the ball". Thanks for your comments! Jeanne

Alvin Richard - 9/19/2008 4:52:00 AM

You paint with the assurance of an old master!

Edward - 9/20/2008 2:45:00 PM

fantastic work !

jeanne illenye - 9/20/2008 3:34:00 PM

Thank you so much, Alvin! The masterpieces of the Dutch masters are my first love. However, I''m becoming increasingly excited by the nostalgic subjects, clarity and brightness of contemporary realism! Sincere thanks for your kind comment! Jeanne

Thank you so much, Ed! I truly appreciate your compliment! Jeanne

"Orange Burst" and "Baseball" are my favourites from amongst a mesmerising collection of art work. The fine rendering of detail succeeds in reproducing the look of petals, wood, oreo cookies, silver; quite remarkable. I can only imagine the attention to detail and time required. The Dutch masters certainly come to mind. Thanks for inviting us in. - Allan

jeanne illenye - 9/30/2008 1:11:00 AM

Thank you so much, Allan! Yes, indeed, I spend countless hours per day at my easel, particularly when immersed in creating a large painting, as they seem to be all consuming!! That''s partly why I enjoy painting my "Little Gems" such as my baseballs and fruit, etc. as they permit a great deal of detail on the smooth surface versus canvas, as well as to afford me the satisfaction of completion relatively quickly (in days instead of months). Thank you again, Allan, for your truly wonderful compliments! Jeanne

WR Jones - 10/3/2008 8:31:00 PM

Jeanne, I never liked Oreos until I saw your painting. They now look good enough to eat. You certainly paint well, but I would like to see chocolate chip next.

jeanne illenye - 10/3/2008 10:41:00 PM

Thank you, WR! Actually, I have a painting of chocolate chips started, but I''m working to complete a few large commissions before I permit myself the indulgence of painting my "Little Gems" again. Keep watching as the holidays approach...those chocolate chips will surely be out there in time for Santa! :o)

Bryce Cameron Liston - 10/12/2008 4:29:00 PM

Jeanne, What rich color harmony, such a delicate control of temperature. A beautiful touch of realism you certainly have a clear understanding and control of your edges. "Vintage Fob Watch" is one of my favorites- Brava! -BRYCE
